CHGD likes to work collaboratively with their clients, listening carefully to their needs and ensuring the garden design brief is clear and accurately interpreted. CHGD gardens are recognised for their elegance, use of exotic and indigenous plantings and use of sustainable materials.

CHGD draws on a select group of contractors including landscapers, horticulturalists, lighting consultants and electricians to ensure the design concept to project completion, is smooth and seamless.

Every garden we design is bespoke and the process typically includes the following stages:

Stage 1: Initial Consultation & Client Brief

The design of your garden begins with an initial meeting in your home or in our design studio in Seddon. We will establish a client design brief by understanding your aesthetic, lifestyle and functional wishes. Following this initial meeting, we will be in a position to submit an indicative fee proposal outlining the landscape design process, timeframes and associated costs.

Stage 2: Site Analysis & Concept Design

Upon appointment, the next step is to undertake a thorough site analysis of your garden. This may include accessing existing architectural or survey drawings. The site will be measured, photographed and soil samples will be collected for analysis. Large or very steep sites may require a land survey to be undertaken by a qualified land surveyor.

Stage 3: Design Concept

We will produce a Design Concept that illustrates a potential layout and style for the garden in response to the client brief. This concept is discussed in detail with you and is presented with relevant imagery and material samples.

Stage 4: Detailed Landscape Plan

Following completion and refinement of the Design Concept, detailed drawings are produced. These drawings accurately document every component of the proposed garden and include: a planting schedule, material schedule, garden lighting plan, construction detail drawings and written specifications.

Stage 5: Tendering & Project Costing

We can recommend experienced landscape contractors to tender on the final drawings, or alternatively, you are welcome to utilise your own contractors. Following analysis of the tender submissions, we will meet to select a contractor to build your garden. If required, the design can be adjusted at this time to further suit your budgetary requirements. At this stage, we will provide a quotation for plant procurement. Plants are sourced through a network of quality wholesale and retail nurseries.

Stage 6: Project Management

We can make site visits during the garden construction phase to ensure the design is interpreted and executed accurately. We can also ensure the coordination and timing of other specialist contractors to ensure the construction of the garden runs smoothly and on time.

When the garden build is complete, we will prepare a Garden Maintenance plan to ensure the design is realised. We can also organise horticultural support services to assist this process.
